Over the Hedge 7

Copyright DreamWorks Animation

This Mole-type character never actually made it into the
final film, but I thought you might enjoy him. Perhaps when
you re-visit the film you can imagine him always being there,
just below the ground.

Hello Jakob, just found out that you were one of the "insert name here" streetgang ... so many excellent artists in the animation industry. I guess I'll have to watch that movie of yours at some point!
Your characterisation of animals is superb.
Tak for posting these!(and the next ones)

  11. Dear Mrs. Jensen

I usually don't go in for the photorealistic depictions of helpless animals or nature related blogs, but your work has really changed my mind and those of my wife and pets.
    We thank you.

it's such a shame that the final designs used in the film are so poor.

Hey, Jakob... I've been reading your feedback, and I'm worried that maybe you're getting too much praise. It's all going to go to your head! So, to balance things out a bit:

I think your work is pretty okay. Your drawings don't suck very much at all.

Seriously, though, thanks for posting these great drawings; they bring back some of my best memories of working at DreamWorks.

  17. Love the mole on the right. Body language is subtly hysterical.

I accidently chased one of these poor bastard with my lawn mower this Summer. He, literally, popped out of a hole (must have been the vibration of the mower scaring him). I stopped and watched him. He sniffed for a few seconds, then with his eyeless little face just started screamming at the lawnmower. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen because these pricks are smaller than mice.

    Brave and angry little bastard.

Love seeing your work online, brother!
